btw, did you ask if the had jdm silicone oil for the eye

when i had my shoulder surgey back in january i asked the anesthesiologist that type of question, he smiled and shook his head
They were taking the oil out, just putting saline in. The oil (more viscous - thicker than saline) was in there to help push the repaired retina against the inner surface of the eye ball to help it adhered as it healed.

They had a big bandage over the rest of my face during surgery - it felt like they were peeling my face off when they were finished. I did ask what "grit" the gauze was they used to remove the adhesive from my face - it felt like sandpaper!

This is a clear shield with blue border and gauze underneath, taped on. Not your typical pirate patch. I do have a black patch that I had to wear while driving at night and during very bright sunlit days. Only a few pirate jokes.

You know what a pirate's favorire letter is?

Just got back from the follow up visit. Eye pressure is on the low side; doctor says that can happen. I have to see him again on Friday. Only restrictions are to keep it dry for a few days and to not lift anything heavy for two weeks.

Have you ever spoken to the guys who were working with you that day since?
I can't help but wonder if any of them now use PPE?

I see them a lot at church (it was a church volunteer project). It is getting warm enough here that roofers should be starting up again. I'll have to mention it when I update the church tomorrow evening.

Not to put down anyone, but I'm sure many of them don't wear PPE still. And I've been there. You think "that will never happen to me", or "sucks to be him", or "I'll be more careful". Very few go through the trouble of going out, buying PPE, and using it at the job site. Very few lead by example in these situation.

I saw the surgeon again yesterday. The internal eye pressure is still only 4 (not sure of the units); it should be between about 10 - 20. It is more light sensitive and the vision is more blurry than before the surgery. He is concerned that it hasn't increased any since Tuesday. He'll be gone next week; we'll see (no pun intended) if it improves by the next appointment (4/24).

                          So brutal.

First week on my current job I took a metal shard into my face while using a saw, was about 1/4 inch away from my eye... would've been similar damage to your eye. Scared the shit out of me and I've kept safety glasses on my face or stored on my shirt at all times ever since.

Really fortunate I didn't learn my lesson your way, I just had a small cut next to my eye.
Everyone should heed this advice, especially while under a car.

                          RIP my last two CB7s.

The vision has improved some since last week; the double image I was seeing (one finger looking like two) is now two images offset by about 1/3 of a finger width and light sensitivity is pretty much back to where it was before surgery. I'll find out on the 24th if the pressure has improved any.

Maybe part of it. I was backing one car out of the garage past our van and two Accords (Ruby being the last in line). There was a lot of discussion in the car distracting me, I must have just moved the wheel enough to angle into Ruby at the end of the line instead of going straight back and missing them all.
