    tcu code 8

Ok I have a TCU code 8 and my TCU is good I think its the shift solenoid. What do you all think about this video does the solenoid sound bad. Or is that just my ears playing tricks on me. Also how do you clean the solenoid internally. http://s1111.photobucket.com/albums/...183008_748.mp4

Ya the autos do suck. But wife can't drive a 5 speed and she doesn't want to learn at all. So i'm stuck with her in auto's. As for me i'm looking into getting another cb a 5 speed one soon. Just got to find one for cheap. Anyways back on topic. I cleaned the shift solenoids and the lock up just to be safe. And it hasn't done it yet but it's only been driven 20 miles. So we shall see as time comes.

it will continue to be a habitual problem, trust me i know lol. buy your wife something new and just 5 speed swap it and keep it for yourself if its healthy otherwise. f22a's are super reliable motors with a handfull documented over 1 million miles. =D

The motor has 7,000 miles on it tranny has 307,000 this old lady owned it before the car is immaculate. I even have the original window sticker. Swapping auto to 5 speed is stupid. There is tons of wire left over there is tons of headache. And not worth it. It's better to just find a 5 speed.

Ok so it took forever but I finally got a new shift solenoid didn't help. I also put in the TCU out of my parents car as it was the same part numbers on both TCU's. But issue still persist just only has second 3rd I think. One thing I have noticed is it only does it once the car warms up. Will not do it at all when the car is cold. Any ideas there.?

you said it yourself, the trans has 300k on it. mine barely has 200k on it and its throwing codes daily. mechanical things go bad cuz they just simply wear out. maybe its time to replace the whole thing.

Fixed it been running strong for 500 miles now hot and cold days. It was the solenoid the wire going to the harnes had gotten ripped when doing a head gasket and it was making a connection then not making a connection.
