Thanks. Definitely felt better with those M/Ts, new plugs and wires, and the P12. I can feel that the pull is stronger.

Yes, it was a smokin' G8! He's a cool guy, and he's always there every time I go. That R/T of .080 shows how much he practices! That being said, MT > AT .

Have you weighed your car? And if not, could you weigh it with full fluids?

Thanks

Good idea. I will. I have a friend who owns the local dirt oval and he has a weigh scale. I could ask him if I could weigh my car on Friday before or after the races start.

Also, don't think I forgot about the dry ice and removing the tar. I am done teaching summer school so now I have time to get the stuff and work on that.

Wednesday night drag racing bliss

She ran 15's all afternoon and evening. Here are some highlight slips:

I can't find my very last slip, but my last run had my best reaction time of .085. I do have the video of that run:

That mustang eliminated me due to his perfect .000 light. That thing sounds like it wants to eat you! I love it!

No changes were made since July 4th, I just got more time in my car and it payed off.

I was going to check on Friday at the races, but I got wrestled into announcing a memorial lap instead, and had to leave quick afterwards to go back to camp. I am at a kids camp all week until late Friday night. I will check Sonoma Raceway on Saturday to see if they have a weigh station that I can use there, but no guarantees they will let me use it, seeing as it is Mellow Yellow NHRA Nationals day with John Force and all of them racing there.

I'm sure a car shop around here has a weigh station. I'll be looking when I get back into town. Maybe I can get a few dyno runs in at the same visit.

Top Fuel and Funny Cars!

Going to the Sonoma Nationals this weekend was a real treat. I got comped two tickets because I was the backup national anthem singer. The first in line, CEO of Miramonte Records, did show, so I did not get to sing on this stage:

I was bumed, until I experienced this:

OH MY!! What absolute insanity!! Top fuel is pure alien and guttural and monstrous all at the same time! 150 dB and 8000 hp send top fuel and funny car into an entirely different realm in my book! Those predominantly nitromethane engines push them way beyond Pro Mods or Pro stocks. As they pass by, the WOT sound is beyond nascar, beyond F1, beyond monster trucks, beyond ANYTHING! It surges through your entire body; and as they near the 1000ft mark, the grandstands and even your eyes shake! There is absolutely nothing like this in the entire world, and I would have watched it all day, sunburns and heat stroke and all!

Here is John Force kicking some tail in funny car qualifying on Saturday:

I am so much more hooked on drag racing after this. I'm going back tomorrow to make use of the rubber they left in the track grooves this weekend!

Wednesday's Results: poop

Well, everyone I talked to at the track was disappointed with their times. They were either two tenths slower, or inconsistent. I was hoping for great conditions, but it was hot and the top fuel and funny cars that were there last weekend must have changed the groove. I also had a half tank of fuel in the car.

I ran six times, and all my runs were between 15.91 and 15.98. My 60' times were about the same. What got better were my reaction times. 4 out of 6 were within .15 seconds of a perfect .000 light.

Weight Update

This is mostly for Domesticated, but the car has an appointment to be weighed this Friday before races begin at the dirt oval. I'll make sure to fill the gas tank first .

My photographer friend has been helping me out the last few times I've gone to the track. He takes some real good photos as well!

I need an alignment:

Oh Suspension Joy!

The Fortune Auto Coilovers just came! They are so beautiful.

Corweena, I am adding you to my thanks list. The whole experience with the distributor was awesome.

Here's all the suspension stuff that needs to go on pronto:

Thanks, Restless. I bet you are in the mid to high 14's with your current setup. Can you get back to the track anytime soon?

Car Weighed: Results

As promised, I took the car to the local dirt track to be weighed on the scales. The car was in street spec (first picture on MRT) with the passenger seat, stock steelies all around, and a full tank of gas.

The scale read between 2552lbs and 2565lbs, so I am going to average that out to 2560lbs. That's a little higher than I expected, but there are more things I can do to lighten the car (stripping the tar, removing window motors, replacing glass with plexi, replacing hood and trunk with carbon fiber, etc.)

With a quarter tank at the track, car in race spec, and the passenger seat out, I expect the car to weigh around 2460lbs

2300 should be right around the corner. That is very light...I don't know why people are always saying these Accords are heavy.

Yeah, I should be able to get there. I will lose weight when putting in the coilovers, but the ESP bracing I am adding next will probably add some weight, oh well. This car feels light and I love it. They may be and feel heavy compared to a civic, but they are light when looking at the entire car output of the twentieth century.

Dude, your sig...
