my buddy and i just picked up a 96 TSI for $100. it took a new head. they are a pain to work on but fun when you do get them running.

My uncle sold his 2g eclipse for $1k (GS), and the thing was in fantastic shape. Good job with not blowing your money on this

Like some other people mentioned already, maybe consider a 1g if you really like Eclipses/Talons. I'm working on a 1gB right now...we paid $600 for it, in pretty good condition (although you can't tell 'cause we gutted the entire thing), and it's got the 4g63t motor Just a suggestion!

a friend just pick up an eclipse , all black on black rims with a complete rebuild up of the motor , built for boost ,

this one of the worst eclipses I've seen (appearance wise) but a little work could fix that.

didn't sound like too good a car but for a grand what do you expect?

I have several friends that roll on eclipses most of them keep the mods minor and the car basically stock and they seem fine. My buddies eclise had some major work that he put in to it though but he'd had several internal problems...I think the tranny was bad on it or something. My cousin basically killed his eclipse (he's a terrible driver). He blew his engine, sold it, bought it back and then totaled it.

I've always liked the look of the eclipse (talons do look better) but I've never wanted to buy one. I hear to much crap about them.

but yeah keep looking or stay with the cb you'll know what to do

Why even bother with the thread then? You asked if it was worth it, got told "NO" by a few people (the ones you asked in fact) then decided to argue about it and say that you were going to buy it anyways.

Or just change the title to "Hey look at me, Im going to get a DSM ... cmon everyone and worship my poor purchasing decision"

I guess it cant be any worse than that grand am or whatever that other mess you have is.

I have A 1998 Grand Prix GT.
I've had NO problems with it at all.
Maybe before you go dissing cars,
you need to realize that problematic cars alot of the time means people are beating the hell out of them and not taking care of them like they should.
Im glad i didnt buy the eclipse. Its a POS. My Gp is way nicer.
And as for your opinion about my GP, I could careless.

420a in an eclipse = slow
4g63 in an eclipse = unreliable

I hate DSM. I wouldn't buy it.

P.S. I'm sure you didnt buy it considering how old the thread is, but i thought id add my .02
