what are some good ways to clean everything had to cut a head blot off so made a mess inside

At that point, take it to an engine shop and have it cleaned. Valve job and new valve seals while you're at it.

It doesn't have to be ported. In fact, unless you're planning to compliment that work with other modifications, I would suggest against it. There is likely a machine shop close to you that disassembles, cleans and reassembles heads multiple times a day. They will lap your valves, check your valve guides for excessive tolerances and put it all back together for you to have it ready to bolt back onto your head.My Members' Ride Thread - It's a marathon build, not a sprint.
