1993 CB9 Energy Suspension LCA issue

Hi everyone,

Having an issue with my Energy suspension Bush kit install. Ive Got every other bush in correctly no worries.

however, the Bush that goes at the end of the LCA ( Chassis to LCA mount), the inner Sleeve is too small for the OEM bolt, and it does not sit tightly at all within the Bush "bore"

has anyone experienced this, or know what my issue is

Thanks guys

Are you sure you have the correct sleeve? Mine fit nice and snug. The "Part list" that is part of the instruction sheet includes the dimensions/sizes of each of the sleeves. Maybe try verifying that you have the correct one by measuring it and comparing it to the sheet. If you don't have the part list/instruction sheet, I can dig mine out for you. In theory, they might have sent you the wrong ones, since the sleeves are not labeled with numbers like the bushings are.

Damn it, do you Get email alerts for every new thread or something? ha ha. well i looked at the bush, and The part number is correct (2271). i checked the Inner Diameter measurement. For both that sleeve and for the upper control arm, the ID is .406". for the front shock, it is .480". if the .406 was correct, my Lower control arm bolt would fit the Upper control arm Mounts, but my bolt is MUCH larger. I also Installed the bolt momentarily to make sure it fitted the thread correctly.it does.

lol, I work from home on the computer, so cb7tuner is a common procrastination outlet for me :P

Is it possible that your car has different lower control arm mounts? Like bigger ones for some reason? Is your car 4-wheel-steering or anything like that?

Maybe you can take pictures of the offending bushing.

Definitely possible that the mounts are different, Its an AUDM RHD CB9, with Disc brakes all round, and being that its AUDM its basically the JDM model without DCC. Its not 4ws. Its a simple test if anyone else has there Cb7/ 9 suspension apart. If the Upper control Arm Bush bolt is the same size as the Lower control arm chassis mount bolt then that means my mount is different. which is really annoying.

For anyone that has this issue, it turns out my wagons LCA to Chassis mount bolt is the same size as the Suspension fork Bush and also the Radius rod Bushes. to Fix this, i used the Old Radius rod Sleeve, Cut it to size, And it works. Fixed!

yeah the CB9 AUDM is definetly different. to fix the issue, i replaced the Original Sleeve with the old Sleeve from the Front Radius Rod bush, Cut it down about 20mm to fit, and thats worked perfectly for me. so for any AUDM CB9 owners (read: me, and me alone ;p) thats how you install it.

The control arms between the Australian front LCA and the US front LCA are the exact same. I can't help but feel you just got the wrong part. Or that you may have misused one somewhere else and were left with the wrong one when it came to the front LCAs.

Absolutely. Huge difference. It handles honestly really well now.

Jarrett, I tried every single bushing I had. None of them fit correctly. I confirmed with the supplier and the installation sheet that I intact had the correct bushes, and I measured every bush just to be sure.

The bushing fit into the hole correctly but the bolt was larger. It was not a big deal to fix.
