Now at 278,000. Brakes have been squeaking and pulsing, so today I did front pads, resurfaced rotors, rear pads and new rotors (inside of rotors were worn oddly). I hate rotor retainer screws. First one I tried to get out, I put the screwdriver in, then rapped it with a hammer to possibly free it up; the tip of screwdriver broke off in the screw! I wound up having to drill all four screws in the front out. After getting a replacement (lifetime warranty) screwdriver, I was able to get the three screws (one missing) in the rear out.

This one will likely be on the market soon. The back seat is not conducive to putting a safety seat in and out, nor is the trunk to putting a stroller in. Probably look for a roughly 2009 vintage CR-V to replace it.

My daughter had a reported crank, but no start event last night. Not knowing better (I guess I didn't teach her enough about cars), she found someone to jump it and it started. Battery is at 12.5 volts this morning, cranked and started fine. I'll get to AutoZone this afternoon to borrow a scan tool.

Anybody had intermittent crank, no start problems with 2008 vintage Acura or Honda?

Edit: No codes stored according to the simple scan tool at AutoZone?

I'm accumulating more OBD2 vehicles - recommendations for a scan tool to purchase?

Edit 2: Got back from AZ, indicated tire pressure was low. RF down to high 20's. Unfortunately, the RF wheel and brake was pretty hot. Looks like I'll have to rebuild the caliper.

I recommend a BT scan tool. I personally have this one: ScanTool OBDLink LX Bluetooth: Professional Grade OBD-II Automotive Scan Tool for Windows and Android - DIY Car and Truck Data and Diagnostics

I use it all the time #BMWProblems, had it for about 3 years, still going strong. I wish the live data sampling was a bit faster but other than that, awesome little device!

Welp, I'm going against the crowd here. I was not impressed with TSX when I tested it (I think it was an 05?). Felt sterile and weak... Probably needed a kpro and/or maintenance.

Loved the styling, I still turn my head when I see one. Interior was ok, it needed a few touch ups but the design is good. What probably messed me up was that I had an Accord 6-6 which definitely skews the perception a bit as far as power... The chassis was good on the street, but I never pushed it.

Had to replace the right front caliper. It was dragging; I bought a seal kit to rebuild it, but the piston was corroded pretty badly.

She bought a 2009 Honda CR-V EX this evening to replace this. Time to clean it up and put it on the market.

Finally sold the TSX yesterday at 279,031 miles. $3500. I was really getting tired of the scammers and low ballers.

It won't last long. I'm starting to look for a vehicle for my son for when he starts a job in May after graduation; he has been using our 99 E350 van (body rusting off the frame) when he's home in the summer and over Christmas break, but now he'll be working full time and can start enjoying owning his own car (and start - better late than never - teaching him how to work on it himself).

My son and youngest daughter (not the one with the CR-V now) are sharing the 2007 Element. I wanted to have my son buy the TSX from daughter #3, but my wife wanted no part of that because she thought it looked like a drug dealer's car (can't see through the tint, pretty dark driving it at night). My daughter thinks she wants a (big, think crew cab and dualies) truck, but that ain't happening. To humor her, I've looked (not in person) at a few Ridgelines, but prices are more than I want to spend and fuel economy looks like it is probably similar to our Pilot - which is thirsty). I may just pick up another Element and let them fight over who gets which one. It is a practical vehicle for a college student or recent graduate - room for a few friends or a lot of stuff that can be carried inside (instead of in the "elements" - pun intended - in the bed of a truck). If driven conservatively on the highway, I've gotten 28 mpg in both daughter #2's and mine. Plus, I already have the the service manual, some spare parts, and a fair amount of repair experience!
