EXT: Custom Front Grill v. II (blacked out)

I started this today and it looks good so far so here it goes.

    I have pics of everything.

So, you want to get that chrome grill outa there but don't want a huge hole in the front of your car? There is an easy replacement for your troubles...and it is called Rust Oleum! So...here's the stuff you need:

    1. The grill in pieces off of the black piece
    2. 1 can of Rust Oleum spray paint (you won't use even half of it)
    3. I you still want your "H" emblem to be visible you'll need a roll of masking tape and an X-Acto knife
    4. Sand paper...I used some rough stuff intended for an eletric sander...
    5. A towel and or roll of paper towels (to hold the pieces and not get crap all over you)
    6. Newspaper to paint on
    7. An area for it to dry
    8. About 15 minutes to paint and a day or so for it to dry

    Here's some pics:

overall stuff minus the knife and tape

    ******

Final pic of grill on car is on page 3

now take the sand paper to the grill

here's it with the one side done...look at the difference...(DON'T go through the stuff...just rough it up)

***on the bottom piece it went all the way through due to the age of the grill...it didn't affect the paint after it was put on***

          continue that on both...

after that if you choose to have the emblem visible you will now need to whip out the tape and knife...apply the tape heavily then cut around it with the knife:

            then paint...

little taps of paint works the best...then you can't overspray it...

Yeah, my CB7 is in the garage all winter so it's really no biggie. Because it's colder it will take longer to dry. It will look very nice imo.

clearcoat will help protect the paint and give it a little more shine. i would recommend it if you dont wanna paint it over again everytime something hits your grill. a couple coats of clearcoat will protect it from getting chipped.

the first time i painted my grill i didnt use clearcoat and after a week or so of driving it had chips all over it.
