    Failed CA Smog

    k, Im gonna repost my numbers. Did CA change their emissions standards? I put alot work into my CB7, shes my baby. It ticks me off, when some cheeze dick tells me Im a gross polutor.

    Clean your EGR valve and ports.

      I did that like three years ago, but Im willing to clean them agian. How do I get the cup plugs off, the ones the stealership gives you. I took off the original ones off.

        You'll have to drill the cups and use a slide hammer to yank them out. Then replace with new stealership cups.
        90 Accord Ex, F22A4. Slight fire damage.

          Kewel, sounds like found. Especially if you alredy done the job before. Im gonna double check my EGR valve for succion. I think I swap out my cat three years ago, thatsbull shit, im not forking out another $300 to have it replace. Thats crap, thats gonna be the last thing Im gonna try to switch out if it does not want to pass smog.

            how old is your o2 sensor? it could be showing signs of innaccuracy if it's been some time.

              Failed a 2nd time. Though my numbers improved my nox# were still high 658 and the max is 554.
              I pulled the egr plugs and valve, sprayed the crap out of it, complete tune up and I still failed.
              I purchased a vacum pum to check egr suction, but Im gonna need a procedure or write up, if anyone has one.
              So here are my new numbers:

                I think they did change their emission standards in 09'. I'm in the same boat as you. fail the first time, cleaned out the egr, egr ports, failed again.                   Crap! I just had a cat slapt on there two years ago. Its not rattleling, nothing. Im just tying to avoid buying a another cat. Am I gonna have to buy a cat avery other year as I smof it. Thats bull shit. Anyone else got feed back base off my numbers. Thank you.

                    I just check my egr valve for leaks, it check out OK. Any other feed back?

                      Swap out my evap purge solenoid, newone is not ticking. Also, one of the small hoses was leaking so I swap it out. I double check the rest of the hoses for leaks. Im pretty much gonna role into another smog station, not the same dude that failed me twice. Wish me luck & I will post up my results tomorrow.

                        all stations are the same if youre going to a test only.

                        put vacuum to the egr when the engine is running and the car should stall, thats when you know the egr is doing something. plus you really need to clean that carbon out, not just spray some carb clean.

                          Guess what? Nailed it, my car passed today doing 552 on the (NO), by a hair on my freaking chin chin. Thanks to all who gave a crap
                          I guess I had to go back and do my egr ports twice, get them completely clean, I mean really clean and use a high power vacuum to get everything out. Called my cuz out in Maui, he stated swap out my NGK Iridiums, they burn and run abit on the hot side. So I went out to WalMart & got the cheapest Autolite and roled up to the smog shop & Bingo. I hope what work for me, will work for others. Im back with my Iridiums.

                            I know this is an old post, but it actually the smog history for my car. This are my most recent numbers. Just did a short block swap a year ago with everything else being OEM transfer from one engine to the other.

                              Hey folks. Just notice something today. Its getting cold here in the mornings in NoCal. I wanted to put the heater on and the air did not heat up through the vents. Both top and lower rad hoses felt pressure inflated, no leaks. My temp gauge held normal and fans came on when needed.
                              I know of CB7 having (3) temp sensors. Can one of the sensors be related with smoging and throwing my numbers off?
