There are lots of club racing organizations. And there is one called NASA, Im a member and just got back from the first event of the nasa south east 2009 racing season.

For 2009 I will be racing in the Honda Challenge H2 class

only one other car in my class, and you see him in the civic right after the restart. I took overall poll and overall win for the small bore race group even though there was a split start with the spec miata class taking the first green flag.
I didnt win any money this weekend just took home a small wall plaque trophy. We all race for the fun, and while there are sponsorship opportunities they are very few payed racing drivers. Most like me pay their own way, some drivers get lots of free parts or free service, a few have a free ride, and the couple chosen ones that met the right people at the right time get paid to race.
