SUSP: DIY rear spindle bushings with a energy suspension bushings

I was working on my good friend Manny_Turbo CD5. We were installing a set of function and form coilover. When going to remove the rear OEM shock the lower bolt seized. When trying to remove the bolt the bushing broke off for the rear spindle DAMN.... After thinking about for 30 min and looking in the garage, I saw the energy suspension box and the bulb in my head turn on... lol I saw a set of bushings in the box, the set for the front upper control arm. I didn't use them because of the camber kit in front of the suspension. Anyway it worked and now I did it for my coupe.. I hope you guys like the idea

    Rear spindle

    rear bushing

    bit of heat

    Now remove the metal sleeve

Remove the rubber bushing. But leave the outer metal ring where the bushing was

    Now heres the new bushing

And now install the energy suspension bushing and here it is finish

It should press in with you hands but its going to be tight. The bushing is the same size of the OEM bushing and can use the OEM bolt.. Have fun

Awesome! I also decided against using my upper control arm bushings and now I'm glad I didn't. My rear knuckles will be coming off soon anyway so this is perfect timing. Rep points for you!

Put the replacement bushings on the fridge and freeze em. They will install a lot easier.

He left that in there so the ES poly bushing would fit correctly.

Seems like a better route to take vs the stock rubber.

Which camber kit did you get?

you do realise those bushings need to be able to pivot and move. they can't be rigid. the poly bushings will need replaced sooner then later. good try tho. when you disassemble one you'll see the bolt sleeve has a ball in the middle that displaces a lot of rubber to allow it to flex when the suspension cycles.

This is prob true. However, it is the same way for the front lower control arm bushings.
And if you do need to replace these more often. It will be a lot easier to replace than replacing the stock ones.

Most people buy the kit and the kit comes with 4 and you only need two each time you replace them.

I have not done this yet. But would like to. Anybody with any followup on how they are doing?

Poly is NOT ok, use OEM or Mugen hard rubber:
                            Rear trailing arms
Lower control arms to body (front & rear)

                            Rear upper arms
and it doesnt say front or back.. so disregard anything ive said lol
