ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    intermittent no spark

so i've got no spark at the coil but not always when the car is cold it'll start and idle just fine, let it warm up and give it a little gas and it just flat out dies, once it dies ones it wont start again for like 15 min then it'll start and die out again in a few min or if i just give it gas

so tomorrow im taking out the main relay to look at it and make sure it's in good shape if this is not my issue could my coil cause this? why would it work partially when it wont's to. also if its my main relay that's pump and inspectors why do i still have fuel pressure but no spark.

im at a loss but im going to keep reading and keep looking, any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    sorry

i just found this and answered my own question (i think)

    No spark
-check at coil, if good at coil replace cap and rotor.
-test light on positive and with cap off for internal coil, place on negative end of coil. Have someone turn the engine over, the test light should blink rapidly. if no blink or intermittent...check ignitor, positive end of coil for battery source and signal from ecu.
-if no power at coil + which is the blk/yellow wire, check ignition switch for power and main relay

Those are the steps! If you can hear the fuel pump prime, the main relay is OK.

I would also add check the coil resistance if you have a meter. I can get those values if you need them

it seems the main relay is in good shape, to be sure ill post pics asap and you guys can let me know for sure if that's okay, okay now to check the coil resistance how would i do this all I've been able to conclude is that I've got no spark at the coil, battery and alternator are brand new both tested bad at o'reilly's so i replaced them hoping this might do it, no luck. but if it is my coil why does it start and idle fine and why does it die when you give it gas? another thing i noticed is that i say it idles fine what i mean is it doesn't die but im not sure how okay it is for it to be idling at about 500rpm to me it sounds a little low but this is my first cb and i feel a little ignorant on the subject. thanks again.

Idle should be between 700 and 800.

Check your grounds. Make sure they’re tight and clean, as well as both battery connections.
