ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

Get your exhaust fixed to see if it smells any better.

Does it smell sweet or oily?
First you should check for any obvious visible leaks

I never heard that one before but I know what you mean sorta kinda. But check your engine for oil leaks and check hoses and radiator for antifreeze leaks..If you have an exhaust problem then fix it but I never heard of it smelling like "overheating" so I doubt thats the problem

yeah, I've just dealt with the effects of an overheat, check all of the hoses quickly, and the antifreeze level. Trust me, you don't want a warped head. Its best to replace the bad parts or hoses rather then taking the engine half apart because you overheated the engine. Some of those hoses are hard to see or inspect. You may have to take the intake plenum off to see the ones under the intake.

I was just thinking that one of the coolant lines back there had sprung a small leak and maybe hitting the exhaust pipe where it would burn off. The OP never really said which engine he has and the A6 has those coolant lines going to the oil cooler where the filter screws to.

Sometimes under highpressure, if you have the factory antifreeze hose clips on (the ones you sqeeze) , they can expand under highpressure. I use the hose clamps where you tighten by a screwdriver.

could it be the heater core inside the car behind the dash ? that why you re smelling antifreeze ?

when i had my rear heater core hose spring a leak, it shot it up front near the rad cap....it made it more difficult to find the problem because you couldn't see where it was shooting out from...$8 hose and it was as good as new
