ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

flywheel amd pressureplate rubbing block on f22a

I have a 91 accord wagon with the f22a in it.i had an issue under the hood and the car stopd working.it wouldnt start anymore.something would make a noise when turning the key but would start the car.yesterday we took the starter off and it lookd in ok shape.so then we removed the valve cover and dropd the oil pan.we cranked the motor by hand with a ratchet and everything turned and functions normal.the flywheel would spin as well.here is where i become a noob.when trying to figure out the timing and finding the markers we touched the flywheel and it would spin on its own freely.is it suppost to do that? And it is also rubbing against the block.you can see a ring on the flywheel where is was touching.it made it a little hard to remove the oil pan as well due to it touching.im pulling the motor out next week to check whats going on and to get a parts list going but can someone give me some ideas andhelp before hand so i can have an idea whats going on myself..thanks guys!

Pull your transmission out and you most likely need a new flywheel

The flywheel should not turn that freely; it should require the same about of force as it does to turn the crank by hand with that ratchet. If you turn the flywheel from the timing inspection area, can you see the crank shaft turning at the same time?

I know you are using the term 'flywheel', but is your car an automatic by chance? I think it would be more common for a flexplate (automatic transmission) to break than a flywheel (manual transmission).

I had to replace my flywheel recently on a 5 speed, I had done an H swap last fall and noticed a little noise by times but it still started and ran. During the winter months I started it a few times for good measure until one day the ring gear detached from the flywheel. The ring gear on our flywheels are heated and pressed on so it can actually break free from the flywheel. Check and see if the gear is moving around independantly of the actual flywheel if it is a 5 speed. If it is then you definetly need a new fly wheel. By the sounds of it though you will need to be pulling the transmission at some point even if it is an automatic.
        My work in progress!

Sorry wrong term..the flexplate it is an automatic..when i turn the motor at the crank the flexplate spins with it.but with the oil pan dropd and the little cover off.you can touch it and spin it really easily on its own.and theirs a circle from where it rubs the block as it spins

Need to pull the engine, it's easier to mess with an auto with the engine out of the car.
