If you're a shop...why lie about how much time it takes? Why not just charge more per-hour to cover your overhead costs? Instead you play off the general population's ignorance to auto repair? We all know shops over-estimate on time (sometimes grossly) and it would appear to anybody with a brain that they are taking advantage of people by doing it.
Just because a Chilton's book says it takes a half-hour to remove the side marker light from an Accord, should I be gouged for it?
This annoys me the most because of the stupid look you get from the estimator when you ask him if it really takes a half-hour to remove a screw and pull.... retarded.
