    my semi grill hack

i hated the way my car looked with the chrome grill with the 92-93 bumper, so i painted it black. It's my temporary grill.

after 1 shot of primer, and 3 coats of semi-gloss black

after 2 more coats of semi gloss black, and 3 coats of clear.

    new lip, coming this week.

I'm trying the grill hack Maroon showed on the 1st page right now. only I'm doing it with a 90-91 Grill for my 93 coupe. If anyone has done this on a 90-91 grill how did you fill the holes where the H logo was? And did you bondo/jb weld together the stainless trim and what was left of the grill itself after cutting the slats and H logo out?

Ok that really didnt answer my question as to whether or not to make the stainless piece and the plastic grill one piece by filling the gap with JB weld. Anyone else have anything?

Anyone? Sorry to be impatient but Im at the point where all the is left is to either JB weld them together or proceed with priming.

been so long since i looked at this DIY..didnt know mine had been looked at so much. Just an update, mine is still holding up, I have had to re-paint it a few times due to rock chips and such. Mesh is now black.

Did you sand all the chrome plating off it before you painted it and did you fill the gap between the stainless and the black piece that bolts to the car?

the chrome cant be sanded off unless you went hard core on it. You would need to use a razor to get the chrome plating off. Or better, soak the grill in bleach for 3 days.

You can just use bondo or better yet, fibeglass some plaastic in that hole and sand it down.
