ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    What do engine codes mean?

So for example, F22A1, I know F is the designation "Honda F engine" and the 22 is the displacement (2.2L), but what does the A1 mean?
in D15B2. Its a Honda D engine with 1.5L of displacement, but there are also D15A2 engines, and D15B3 engines. And also engines like F22B1. I dont know what the last two characters represent. Can someone explain?

Exactly. Consider that part of the engine code as a "trim level" in many cases. The F22A1 is the base model, the F22A4 is the midrange (with 5hp more, due to the exhaust manifold), and the F22A6 is the luxury model, with 15hp over the base model (due to a number of parts.)
To my knowledge, though, the numbers are fairly arbitrary. For example, the F22A3 (found outside the US) makes 150hp. Therefore, the higher number does not always mean the better or more powerful engine. The A/B/C/Z etc.. letter seems to designate a sub-family. For example, the CB has the F22Ax, whereas the CD has the F22Bx. The engines are related, but have some significant differences.

What always confused me was Honda's use of the F designation for the S2000's engines, which are far more similar to the K series than any other F series. Additionally, I don't understand the DOHC versions of the F20A, F20B, F22A, and F22B. I get that the blocks are similar to the SOHC varieties, but the DOHC heads are a significant difference!
