Good luck Geoff. Great time of year to have your heater core go, eh?
    Thanks

I still had heat. It was just bubbling coolant down onto my things

    Also, I broke my clock

Lucky you. We're half way through winter and I still have no heat. I was thinking of unclogging it JUST to avoid having to take the dash apart lol.

If it wasn't winter I would've done that. A few of my friends suggested carrying a propane torch, so I could clear the windows when they got foggy

Lmao!! I've heard that swapping the heater core hoses will reverse the direction of the clog, not sure if I wanna try tho! lol

Pretty sure mine just has a hole. There was quite a bit coming out.

Your in for some fun pulling the heater core box out. Its a major PITA. I just pulled the whole HVAC system from my wagon and Im about to do the same to my black CB. So far I have removed 3 HVAC systems and the heater box always gets me.

Heres the 3 parts of the HVAC system

That's actually exactly where I stopped. Any advice?

The blower motor box and the AC box are easy to remove but the heater core box is a bit tricky. Just remember to unhook the 2 AC lines, the 2 heater hoses, all electrical connectors and the wire going to the heat valve on the heater hose before you start unbolting the boxes.

The boxes are already unbolted, and I have no desire to undo the AC lines.
I'm hoping it's just stuck on the heater core lines. I'll see tomorrow.

I didn't remove the A/C or blower but after I had unhooked everything the heater box was still a total PITA to pull out. Crushing the old pipes helped I think, being 6'1 300lbs didn't help much either.

Pretty sure crushing them is a necessity. I did it the last time I changed a heater core.

Believe it or not, those lines being stuck is probably why I'm changing this.
I was pulling on them when I did the motor mount and they never came off.
Few weeks later it's gushing coolant. Coincidence?

Edit: You know what? I work at the company that made our HVAC systems.
I wonder if I went over to that department if they'd have any advice for me.

                              Honestly, it's not too bad.
I have a separate car to drive, so I do a little on my car everyday I can.
All the work you see here is maybe 2.25 hours total. Nothing too difficult.

I may find out I'm completely wrong when I go to put it all back together.
