Gearbox oil

Ok, so I know these gearboxes use 10W-30 oil for the gearbox, however, a few months back when i pulled the sedan's motor, I recall the gearbox having actual gear oil in it (I could tell from that putrid smell). I didnt seem to have any issues with it (shifts like butter). My question is would it be safe/beneficial to run it again with the gear oil or should I just put the 10W-30 in?

The only negative effect I can think of besides the smell would be gas mileage. Since gear oil is so much thicker than regular engine oil, that introduces quite a bit of parasitic drag into the system. If you do change to 10W-30, you'll probably have to flush the system a couple times to 'wash' out most of the gear oil.

I got about 400 a tank I think, which is a little better than what my coupe is getting now. I dont have the money to do a flush since im paying to have the clutch done, but i also dont plan on rocking whats in her bay for longer than a year (gonna be doing a Turbo build, which includes gearbox build)

Change it after driving it a long distance so it is as warm as possible so it drains better. I always use Honda manual transmission fluid.

10w30 is fine. A lot of people here also like Syncromesh. Or like fleetwood said Honta MTF. All will work fine in a daily
