battery question

So my battery just sucks up a lot of power and when the weather gets colder, if I dont start my car everyday the battery dies. Now my battery is dead, is starts when I boost it, but I'm wondering if a trickle charge throughout the winter can save this battery? It's a new battery from the spring and I dont drive my car in the winter, so will a trickle charge help revive this battery so it's good to go come next spring?

I would take it inside, at the very least. The cold kills everything, including batteries.
Idk about the trickle charger though.

I do store my car indoors, I just didnt want to take the battery out because I plan on starting the car every once and while and dont want to haul the battery around everytime

i would try trickle charging it, with a battery tender preferably. they put out something like 1.25 amps max and don't need you to watch them.

How indoors is indoors? I'm running off experience with my lawnmower battery. I stored it in my garage. The next spring it was dead. The year after, I stored it in my furnace room. Worked fine after that.

If your just starting your car, you won't need to re-secure the bracket for the battery.

You're right, it's indoors but in a garage that is semi-heated, but not like a furnace room. I think I'll just take it out of the car. Thanks

I would find the real problem, you shouldn't be having that much battery drain. You've more than likely got a short or something is on when the car is off.

1. Pull your radio/backup fuse.
2. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
3. Hook a test light or voltmeter between the negative terminal on the battery and cable.

If the light is on, or your voltmeter is showing power draw, start pulling fuses one by one till you isolate which section of your electrical system is causing problems.

If the light is off, or your voltmeter is not showing a power draw, the draw is somewhere in your backup/radio fuse system.

Once you have isolated the circuit(s) that are causing the drain, you can consult the electrical schematics for our car here to find out exactly what components are involved.

A little onboard trickle charger would help keep the battery fresh for those long winter months. I've had one on my cb7 for about 2 years now. I just UNPLUG IT BEFORE STARTING THE CAR, and it fires right up! I start/warm the car up every couple of months to "get the blood flowing".
