ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Air filter suggestions.

I ordered a new air filter for my 3" short ram air intake. I ordered a K&N but I think it was a cheap knock off from China. It seems poorly made. Long story short, I want to get a really nice one, no more short cutting on cost.

Anyone have any suggestions for brand and model? Thanks in advance everyone.

To be honest with performance wise all filters do the job, just depends on quality. K&N is good, AEM are good as well as other big brand filters vest bang for buck would be a Spectre filter flows as high might not be as good as K&N ..but the price is right and ..build your own intake for cheap an 90 degree elbow is like what ? 5$?

Really the factory air box and filter is the best thing for a stock engine. The factory filter flow is more than a stock engine can ever use. The only benefit that a short ram intake gives you is a really cool sound. K&N makes a good filter.

K&N are good filters along with S&B.

what made you think its a knockoff?

because i have an AEM pipe and the filter it came with has AEM on the rubber end but on the frill it has a K&N stamped into the aluminum badge thing.

i accidently ordered a 3" K&N and if took forever to ship (from china) and it said K&N on the rubber end, but not on the aluminum piece. so i was thinking the same thing. i ordered the right one and its coming from San Leandro CA.

I have K&Ns on all my cars. They seem to work fine for me.

any intake pipe will do. I have a 3'' intake pipe with a AEM/K&N Dryflow and I for ones like it. so any intake pipe and a good brand name filter will do

The closed end of the filter has plain block letters for K&N instead of the logo. I never seen an official one without the logo design.

Hmm, yah. The one I had g did have the logo I just thought out was weird the aluminum piece was blank. I meant to go check the ones at auto zone but I still haven't.

there is spectra, aem, and K&N

my vote goes towards the aem dry flow...its really nice price around 30 bucks and there is no oiling of the filter required

Spectre suck's for filtering. AEM is what i run cone wise and K&N drop in filter wise, but others are out there that give better or just as good flow and filtration. It's not like you will gain much of anything so best bet is to get a filter that does both good.

The aem dry filter is the best one to go with IMO.

My aem lasted about 9 months and I cleaned it and some of the red fibers came off leaving some yellow sponge exposed. Thats why I'm getting a new k&n

My old AEM filter was beat! "no battery tiedown". Plus it was falling off. I switched to K&N and I like it. If you buy an intake from Ebay. I would suggest switching to a name brand filter like K&N filter or AEM filter. The motor will thank you later
