How to... clean the EGR valve. I really think it need a cleaning, and I have no idea how to do it safely.
Any info on this procedure, would be very appreciated.
Thanks.
You will need a new gasket for starters and some gasket remover. Be careful with those bolts cuz they get lost easy when reinstalling so buying extra ones to start is not a bad idea. Basiclly take off the valve and spray the shit out of it with carb cleaner. If you have a small brush to get in there with it will help break the carbon down faster. Anywhose thats about it, pretty simple to do.
good luck, and i think there is a diy with pics somewhere on here just do a search and you will find it.
No longer working on the cb. To much time and money has been put into it. Check my for sale thread where the whole car will be parted out.
Will cleaning the EGR valve help with dirty EGR ports? I think my Accord has dirty EGR ports, and I was thinking about cleaning the EGR valve, but I was wondering if it would do anything for the dirty ports.

How could it? The valve is the valve and the ports are the ports.
It will help some but if thats all you can do its not worth your time I think. If you're going to do it, you may as well do it all. Remove the IM and drill those holes, pull the plugs and do a worthwhile cleaning.
