ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:
http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/forumdisplay.php?f=144
Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    F with H internals

I couldn't find the answer in any of the threads, so here goes...

    Destroked f23a(1) 87mm bore
    w/
    stock H23a1 replacement pistons
    w/
    H23A bluetop Crank and Rods

    Would it work?

Going for a smog friendly DD, GT

    mad props!!

Is there a purpose for wanting to bore the engine other than to fit the larger H23A1 pistons? More specifically, what I'm asking is if increasing the displacement is the goal and the pistons are a means to that end, or, do you find the resulting compression ratio of that combo ideal and it necessitates a bore increase?

Regardless, there are two things you're likely not considering. One, the H23A1 pistons use a press-fit pin, and the H23A VTEC rods are compatible with floating pins. The rod bushing would need to be taken out to new "floating" clearances. Also, the H23A VTEC rods are unique in the fact that there are actually 141mm instead of 141.5mm like the H23A1 and F22s. This is because Honda wanted to use a 31mm tall piston as is used in the H22A. So since the stroke and rod length is ideal for a piston of 31mm, putting a 31.5mm piston in would drop it .020" in the hole. While the resulting compression ratio on paper is decent, it wouldn't have good quench area qualities.

I believe a different piston could be found that is more ideal.

The USDM H22A4 piston would solve the quench issue while maintaining a similar compression ratio to what the combination in the OP would have. It would also be compatible with the wrist-pin of the rods. H22A Type-S pistons would do the same, only with a slightly higher compression ratio.
My Members' Ride Thread - It's a marathon build, not a sprint. But keep me honest on the update frequency!
