    mtnbikaah : 1973 Chevrolet C10

    1973 Chevrolet C10
    307 with a 4-on-the-floor NP-833. (was a 3-on-the-tree)
    3.73 rear-end (I think, can't remember)

My older brother and I are doing a rally with this truck. It's called the BABE rally. We're driving this thing from NYC to New Orleans, and back. Each car in the rally has to be purchased for $500 or less. You can put whatever you want into the vehicle but it is a banger rally.

So anyway. We picked up the truck awhile ago. At least a year ago and we've been picking away at it.

The truck was in really rough shape:

Both inner and outer fenders were rotted on both sides. The radiator support was rotted.

So, we took the nose off:

Both rocker panels, floors, and cab corners were rotted out.

    So, we cut them out.

We replaced the old three speed transmission with a 4 speed to get an overdrive gear for the long ass trip. We put in a new clutch as well. The carb was rebuilt. At this point half of the floor has been replaced (gaping hole in the passenger side now.) New body panels have been sourced, they just haven't been put back on yet.

New plastic fuel tank is waiting to be put on, as well as sending unit.

We put in all new stainless steel brake lines as well as a master cylinder. New brake shoes, and springs in the rear, new brake pads and flex hoses in the front.

We're going to put on some rally wheels we had kickin' around. 15x8 (we have 3, does anyone have a 4th one??)

    recently sourced:
    suburban seats
    wiper motor
    steering wheel

    Parts we still need:
    4th rally wheel 5-lug, 15x8
    TIRES, 235/75R15
    lots of little things

    Goal:
Be on the road for the rally on June 5th.

latest pic from a couple of weeks ago:

I've got 4 rally rims sitting around. They aren't in minty shape or anything, but if you want 1, make me an offer.

Are the flares on those front fenders metal or filler?

They're interesting looking. Screaming for wide wheels. Are you planning on leaving the flatbed or putting a standard bed back on it?

The fronts had a TON of filler in them..... they were cool looking but too far gone..

At this point we're keeping the flatbed. Pickup beds are too expensive around here IF they are any good at all!

You guys are gonna get killed.

On the upside you have the factory front sway bar. That was a $50 option back in the day

we put the 4spd overdrive in to help... it's still going to be a pig.

Littleton is pretty good! Not a whole lot to do here, especially at night. It on the outer edge of suburbia will rural oh so close. I like it. It's pretty convenient to places too with route 2 and 495 running through...

and yes, we will be bringing tools and a few spare parts as well!

I just painted the radiator support this evening in Rust Bullet:

New HEI distributer installed on Saturday, along with new spark plug wires. We also started it up again!....

More reconstruction to follow by the end of the week.
