    F&F Type I - increase preload to stiffen ??

I love my F&F Type 1s with one exception. They are simply TOO soft. Was wondering if anyone has tried to increase the preload on the spring past the factory setting (which is also the recommended setting found on their site). I dont wanna go crazy just take some of the easiness out of the suspension travel. Thanks all

Have you replaced any balljoints or bushings to help stiffen up the suspension?

Not yet, that is coming but thats not what im looking for. Im talking about when you hit a dip in the road and your car drops and inch or so in travel (as it should). I want this sudden suspension travel to be a bit less soft and sudden, stiffening it. If these were Type IIs I could adjust the valving for a harder\stiffer ride but the Type I doesnt allow for this.

I have adjusted mine up a little because i too was expierencing alot of up and down with how soft they are and was scraping my downpipe on every dip.

I really wouldnt do too much because it will void any sort of warrenty you have on them if they were to blow

Thanks, did it appear to help any? I was thinking 1/2" at first and see how that does.

Yea i think it did help alot actually,, im still on my studded tires now tho so its still soft because of them. Ill have a little better chance to gauge then stiffness when i get the right wheel combo back on

Good stuff! Do you remember how much you adjusted them?

I'd have to have them in front of my to remember but im thinking mayb 2 or 3 threads, wasnt much but it was enough to get the spring tight with no load on them

My D2's have over 100K on them, the springs def. have softened up alot! Over the years I've slowly increased the preload to recoup some of that stiffness w/ very good success. Def. get a feel for how much the threads on the bodies and collars can take, you don't want to tax them too much to the point of them dropping the threads!

Yeah mine are not even a year old but have always been far too soft. Im going to take it slow and test it out as I sure as crap dont wanna drop any threads lol

if they would up the spring rate from 6k to 8k in the rear it would make a world of difference.

If anything, I would buy these and immediately put on softer springs to raise the damping coeffient. These taiwanese coilovers don't have stiff enough dampers for the springs they put on in my opinion
There are no black and white suspension answers!!!!!!!!!!!
