ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    My new sub enclosure

I got bored the other day, had some MDF laying around, so I figured I'd build a new speaker box. The dimensions are 33 wide x 17 tall x 10 deep, it's got a 3 inch by 15.5 inch slot port and a single JL Audio 12w3. For what it is, I'd say it beats pretty nicely.

I may continue framing in the trunk. For the time being, the amps are behind the box, between it and the back of the seat.

That thing is huge and ported. Could a CB handles all that vibration?
      Lol.

Haha, that I am. And thanks.

And yeah, it actually doesn't vibrate/rattle all that bad. If I decide to go with either a bigger woofer or more woofers, I may add some Dynamat or some sort of noise deadening mat.

I was thinking about it. If I do, it'll be a color matched carpet. I need to make an amp rack of some sort. My amps are too wide to go where I wanted them, so, onto plan B, and not the contraceptive.

I love to hate on MDF for a lot of reasons, but that box looks nice.

I bet it would produce some massive "room filling" bass in a house for a surround sys. You could also use it as a stand for a plant or something so it would even be discrete to a point.

Now get some high quality ply or some thick ass lexan and make a box outta that. I knew this one guy that used BP lexan (about 1 1/2 inch thick) and made a clear speaker tower box out of it for his home system. Fuckin crazy heavy, but the thump it produced with even the shitty subs he had was insane. He didnt have to pay for the stuff though, they demo'd a fountian here which had the lexan in it, it was trash so he took it.

nice slot port, whats it tuned to? about 37-40hz? It will sound a lot better in cabin if you scoot it closer towards the back of the car still firing that way

I'm not sure what its tuned to. I just made the port 3 inches wide by about 7 inches deep. Its about 3 inches off the back of the box and goes behind the woofer.

And thanks for all the comments, much appreciated

                            Enclosure looks nice.
Kinda odd you didn't tune the box or anything. A properly tuned box can make or break a sub.

For sound deadener I've had good luck in the past with Audio Technix. Very good stuff and reasonably priced.
You'll notice a world of difference with sound deadener.
