    What is the name of this circled part



    Whats those circles thing called

    when my car doesnt turn on i hear a sound coming from in there
    when i turn the key i hear that sound and i know when the car is not going to turn on
    today i put my hand on there and i told some one to turn the keyback and foward inside the starter and ever time he turned it foward the the II part of the starter that sound came from there

    when i switch the key to II in the starter and i dont hear that click sound coming from there i know the car is going to turn on

      those are the shift solenoids for the tranny..

        the clicking might be coming from the starter as well since its in the same vicinity

          Those are actually the lock-up solenoids for the transmission. If you look just below them, an identical set of solenoids exists. The lower ones are the shift solenoids. They shouldn't prevent the car from starting though. That may actually be the main relay which is under the dash and is responsible for powering up various other components on the car, possible those included.

            does your car crank?

            if it cranks but doesn't start, you should consider looking at the main relay under the driverside dash. the relay controls the fuel pump. it has nothing to do with those solenoids.
