ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Car wont start; No spark nor is the distributor rotor spining.

Last week my car was running fine, its a 93 Accord EX. I was on my way home from school then the rpms stuttered and the car died. I haven't really had time to look at it since, but no spark is getting to the plugs nor is the distributor fan rotating when trying to start. I just had the timing belt replaced three months ago, and I'm running out of ideas of what I need to change. Any help would be most appreciated, thank you!

I'd check to make sure the timing belt didn't break... It could have...

Also, the camshaft could have snapped... unlikely, but possible.

Seems like the same scenario that I went through and my problem was a snapped t-belt (but it was way overdue for a change). But, I seem to second guess myself because you just had it replaced. However, as previously stated, it could have snapped, maybe it was too tight, not put on right, or simply just a bad belt. Could be the distributor just went completely out. Good way to check, open the oil filler cap and have someone just crank the motor and see if the cam spins, if not then it is most likely your timing belt. If it spins, then it is probably something in the distributor.

Cross your fingers and hope you didn't bend any valves if you snapped the t-belt.

Alright, checked to see if the cam was spinning and it was not, is there any quick way that I can check to see if the timing belt is still there? I'm not very good with auto mechanics and I'd like to not screw something up along the way, thanks so much for the help.

pull the the valvecover and then the plastic t-belt shield on the drivers side off the drivers side and look to see if the timing belt is still there.

Maybe your mechanic installed it wrong. Or it could be snapped.

It was the timing belt. I took the valve cover off today after school and there it was, all ground up and stuff inside the case. Thanks guys for your help, now to contact the mechanic who installed it..

                      check the distributor itself

He just stated that the t-belt was shredded. That would be the reason for it to not start. No reason to check the distributor until the t-belt is replaced. If it still has problems after putting on the new t-belt, then you can move on to other things, including checking the distributor.

You should contact the mechanic soon OP. I hope you are still within the warranty period for their work. As I said previously, you might have bent some valves.

You should be within the warranty for the work. Just make sure you get it back there soon. Let us know how it goes.

If yourt T-belt shredded like that there is a very good possibility you will also have damaged valves.
