Use a thicker head gasket to bring compression down. If your planning on using e85 then compression shouldn't be that big of a worry.

I'll just have to get the bottom end completed and maybe port another head and go from there.

I'm trying, lol. I think the thing that amazes me is how much money to replicate it. Honestly I think I can build 230whp for less than 3k and run 12's for less than 5k. Speaking of 1/4 mile times, I can't wait to see your car in the 10's.

well the head sold, another $350 in the bank. also i did the maintenance stuff and took off the balance shaft belt.

roughly 207whp dynojet. not much but still an improvement.

It looks as though you ported the head with the valves in place? Were those dummy valves or were those the good valves? Did you disassemble the valves to clean the chips afterwards or left them in the entire time?

I always port with valves out, I just mocked it up before I was finished. As far as clean up, I drop it off at my buddy's shop and he runs it through a high temp chem wash then I put all new guides and seals. I'm not a professional by no means, nor do I consider myself a master but on average one of my heads gains 7-10whp and I've never had any failures or problems. Of course I've only done 6-7 d16 heads and 2-3 f22 heads.
