When I first got it in my junior year of high school from an old, awesome woman who was the first owner (this is after a few small mods):

the summer after my senior year of high school, it started burning a LOT of oil, and eventually one of the rods decided it liked it better outside the motor:

dropped in a remanufactured motor, got the windows tinted, then found some altezzas in a junkyard and tinted them red. I really liked this at the time (still kinda do, and they almost look like old audi quattro taillights)

slowly worked more on the motor

lowered it on junkyard-sourced KYB GR-2's and sprint blues, then bought some 10th anniversary accord 6-spokes and hand-polished them

then I added a 5th gen accord lip, made some fiberglass eyelids and a custom grill, and picked up some Motegi MR-8's. this was taken at one of the Show-Me Showdown carshows at the ducks stadium.

And I built a fiberglass-faced sub box for my trunk:

eventually the red tint started to fade and chip away, and my friend wanted the altezzas, so I traded him trunks, upgrading to the 92-93 sedan trunk.

the car was looking great at this point, but ever since that replacement motor, things hadnt been right. i went through two or three cracked intake manifolds, massive overheating, a broken IM stud, etc, so i decided to swap it out and try to find an H22 originally. unfortunately, the H i picked up had a cracked block and a broken connecting rod, so i swapped plans back to the f-series motor. in the process i decided to clean the bay up a little bit. that little bit escalated quite quickly. My goal eventually became to create the cleanest accord bay in the world. It sounds a bit nuts, but even 8 years later, that will still be the case. This is where the progress mostly died. I got another vehicle, went back to college, then eventually started my adult life. For a while, I'd go back home and work on it, eventually getting the bay painted, but then life happened. It's currently sitting in a storage unit near my mom's house, 200 miles from where I currently live.

i know you do, typeG, you inspired the work in my engine bay and i have learned a lot from your DIY's. however, being in college, i dont have any time to polish anything except on breaks, and then i see my girlfriend back home! looks like i have to wait until at least christmas to do anything. when i do, though that valve cover and a few other things will SHINE.
on a related note, how do you sand large surfaces? i have used the dremel sanding method on parts of the valve cover, but that takes forever. right now i am hand sanding everything, and would like some arm stregnth left afterwards.

i usually use an orbital sander where ever i can. that kind of sander is the easiest way to see if you have sanded away all the pits and uneven surfaces.
i wouldn't go any courser than 320g. then just work your way up from there. later.

wow, i completely forgot to update this for a long time!

i've just been keeping up my car recently, cleaning out what trash i leave in there from cruise nights, re-polishing the wheels and valve cover (i really need to wax the wheels), and wishing it was warm enough to wash, clay, and wax my car. since summer i havent really gotten a lot done. being at school and away from my car really sucks. over christmas break i installed my cerwin vega components and built tweeter pods on the "triangles" just inside of the mirrors. it is too cold to paint yet, so they are still in sanded white primer. they will be done come spring break. here is a pic of what they look like, but they have a little more work done now than what the picture shows:

also over break, i installed some blue LED's to light up my subs, changed my blue license plate lights to white, cleaned up the wiring for all of my lights, and replaced the blue neons under my dash with some thin LED strips that Mndude07 gave me for my spare 5th gen lip. almost everything was electrical-based because it was way too damn cold to do anything else except for the 2 days i made the tweeter pods.
i got some great stuff for christmas, a lot of tools, a craftsman 17 drawer tool chest, and a lot of mothers car car stuff:

anyway, here's some new and not so new pics of my car:

Looks good.

Got a few ?'s about your new INT:

1. Where did you get/find "ultra-suede" ?
2. How much did it run per foot/yard?
3. How easy was it to install?

Oh, and how do you like it?

i love the ultrasuede, very easy to work with, fairly cheap for the quality, and looks amazing!

1. jo-anne fabrics, a big chain fabric store
2. 21.99 a foot, but i got it on sale for 40% off
3. really easy to install, but didnt stretch at all, so i had to cut it to get it to fit around the curves.

i just found out that i will be entering my car in the Nopi st. louis show. my mom is going to be bringing me my cleaning stuff and some other things so i can get her ready! i'll be sure to get lots of great pics.
