ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    Overheating

Just finished putting new gaskets and seals and piston rings. Now I turn car on an it creeps up to overheating. I put new thermostat and still overheating. Took thermostat back out and just replaced hose to see if I had flow of coolant. I have flow but still overheating. Coolant fans don't turn on. What could be problem?

Make sure the thermostat isn't in backwards. That's a surprisingly common mistake.
No fan operation would likely be an issue as well. Check the relays, and try adding direct power to the fan to see if it's functional.

I'm having this problem now. Check your ECT sensors as well as your harness.

      Edit: Check your coolant level

Was the car overheating before the overhaul?

Check that your cooling system is building pressure i.e warm it up and squeeze the top and bottom radiator hoses (careful not to burn yourself) Check the radiator isnt gunked up, definately figure out why the cooling fans arent working and get that sorted, check radiator cap (or just use a new one to be sure), check how to bleed the cooling system if you dont know already, thats the eaisest stuff to do. failing that perhaps have a look at the water pump... but thats a bit more involved

That what I would do for the fan. Run direct power to it or stick a paper clip/wire in the cooling fan switch connector. If it fires up then you might also need a new cooling fan switch.

Yes car was overheating. Guy I bought it from said that's why he parked it. He said needed head gasket so I re did almost all gaskets and seals.

                Any progress>?
I have had experiences (more than once, on other cars) where the radiator has been gunked up, you can run the hose through it and water comes out the bottom so you think that its flowing ok but in actual fact the water is just running straight down only a couple of galleries and the rest of the unit is clogged.

Turns out it's my temp/fuel gauge in the cluster. Not reading properly. I shot my thermo gun on engine while running to see temp. The reason fans weren't coming on was because engine wasn't hot enough and wire to sensor was loose. Thanks for all the help y'all.

What temp reading were you getting off of the gun?

I owned a honda civic dx that had the same issue, try seeing if your water pump is bad/needs to be replaced.
