ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Just did a compression test

I just testing the compression on my 226K mile CB7 though was told it had rebuilt engine 90K miles ago. What do you think #1- 179 #2- 176 #3-167 #4-172 cold engine. I will double check dry and with oil in a few minutes and test again.

From what I can find, it is a little bit on the low side of ok. Is it smoking or using oil? How does it run? If it runs good and isn't using/burning oil then I would drive it. Also, like you said, check it wet and dry and make sure the throttle is wide open and the fuel pump is disabled while doing the test. Let us know those numbers.

It seems low but at least evenly so. How long did you crank it for each one?

No low would be anything below the service limit which is 130-140psi. Also all the cylinder's look to be within the psi variance, but a more accurate test is to do it on a warm engine.

I just picked up the car yesterday. No smoke the gal said it did not burn oil though I did find an empty quart container in the car. I did hold the throttle wide open. But did not find the right fuse to pull for the pump. I was told if you are W.O.T. the fuel injectors will not pump fuel while cranking. Not sure if this is true are not.

Seven revolutions each. I wish I had a helper to watch the gauge I might of gone a few more turns. Back when I was in the OLD SCHOOL with my small block Chevy the gauge just stopped increasing no matter how many revolutions.

                  Retested with warm engine.

Seems a little odd 4 was lower than 3 when warm it was the other way around when cold..

Well just for kicks I am going to also check my D15Z1 Civic engine.

Yeah your compression numbers so far are pretty good. Are you sure #4 on that second test was correct? 1-3 are very close. Still #4 at 20PSI less isnt too bad if that is so, although it would be considered just a tad low in comparasin.

Decent numbers although #4 is on the verge of the variance % compared to the rest of the cylinder numbers. Seem's like a normal healthy F22 to me as far as your test goes.

Well it is just for a daily driver with a long road trip throw in now and again.
I just hope it holds up for 20K miles are so more if lucky.
My Civic is great on gas not much else to say about it.
I bought the Accord for a little more comfort and I am planning on selling the Hatchback.

I already knew the Civic engine was a little more tired.

For Accord that are good numbers. Don't bother to fix anything if it is working properly. That is rule for CB's.!

                          Good luck with selling Civic.

Rereading this post a couple of days later I can't come up with a single reason I might have given the OP for those being low numbers. Those are great for an F22A. Either I thought you were saying a different number, I misremembered the factory spec limit or thought you had an H22A. Either way, those are good numbers.
