ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

How big wheels can i go?

    hey everyone
ive finally worked out how to post on this forum

have a 91 accord exi australian delivered
just wondering how there are so many accords with big wheels
am i gonna have to do a coilover conversion to get big wheels in there
just front and rear the controll arms(? they go from the inside of the wheel over the top of the wheel) look like they are gonna get in the way

    any help appreciated

have you ever put big rims on a little car?? its not a good idea. they could probly fit 18s but it would be a good idea for 16 or 17

theres a guy on here with 20's, i have 18's and i think it's the perfect size, run a 40 series sidewall, and it fills out the wheel well arches perfectly.

16's are great if you want to slam it all the way to the ground, get a lip kit and not have too much rotational mass to counter for, not to mention that many of the oem honda wheels we like to use are 16's.. 17's are bleh IMO, at that point why not go 18?

18 looks great, especially on a kitted and properly dropped car like 93accordse... However, before you decide to get big wheels, take your driving style and the condition of the roads you drive on into consideration. The bigger the rim, the less tire you have protecting it. That means you can easily bend the lip, at best making it look bad... at worst, cracking the wheel, or bending the lip enough so it won't hold air.

I have a set of 17s myself, and I'll never go bigger. I've already dented 2 of them (minor, fixable dents, thankfully).

Done right, ANY size wheel looks good on our cars. There are guys with really nice 15", and there are guys running 20s. (something as large as 20" will require fender rolling or cutting, and probably necessitate more negative camber than is healthy for the tires)

Just get quality wheels that fit your driving style. If you can get away with 18" without damaging them, go that route. If not, there's no shame in smaller. I've seen people drool over 15" Volks, and laugh at 18" ICWs.

if you stick with the right 16" wheels they will look as big and as nice as 18" wheels....more +offset will help cover up the wheels wells and make the wheels look bigger

plus the smaller diameter wheels will be lighter, and less prone to damage.

Also, once you get very large rims with small tire sidewalls, your suspension system's overall "spring rates" will go up, and you will need higher rate shock absorbers to counter this increase in operational shock.

                these are my rims...16" x 7.5" 32mm offset

I would personally use anything from 15-17" depending on the wheel and the style. 18"+ just gets a bit silly for my driving style, even 17's on an Accord wouldnt be all that ideal for me
