Does a spare motor fit in the trunk of a CB7?

Curious what your experiences are carrying a motor in the trunk of your CB. With the spare tire removed, did it fit without having to remove the intake manifold? Did the trunk close?

I know transmissions do...haven't tried a motor yet.

I take out the passenger seat and put it there. Much easier and lower to the ground.

I very recently attempted this but with the transmission attached and it does not fit. I had the intake and exhaust manifolds removed, oil pan removed and the rear motor mount bracket as well. No dice. Gave it a real go too...had a buddy helping me with a hoist and everything and it just would not fit. Without the trans i think it would have made it but i would still suggest removing the manifolds.

edit: BTW my trunk is totally gutted.

In the end i did exactly what STREET-SPEC suggested; removed the passenger seat and put it there with bracing on the sides so it wouldn't tip over. It's much easier.

I've had an F23A1 in my trunk. The only casualty was a nick in the rubber seal at the back I wasn't being careful with. A piece of cardboard draped over the edge during removal will alleviate those concerns in the future.

Just like they said, no trans no problem. Although I've head of people separating them and putting them on either side. Not sure how much truth there is to that though.

When I did my H22 swap back in 2008:

                Tranny in the trunk:

Engine in the Pass seat on wood planks had to lift my car slightly to fit the legs of the hoist under the car:
