    backpacks used as man purses?

First off this is not in reference to students, people that ride motorcycles or guys with gym memberships. common sense tells why they use backpacks.

i've noticed at work that a lot of guys carrying backpacks. my job is not the type of job that requires to take home docs to work on, its prohibited. i'm not trying to make fun or anything, its just something that i have been noticing at work and was just wondering if thats what they're being used as. i know "purse" is probably not the word to discribe it lol.

anyone else notice guys carrying backpacks and wondered this?

sorry, this was just a random thought i had and figured i'd post it

I am a student, I do have a gym membership, I don't ride motorcycles(yet), but the job I work does not require me to bring home my work. However, I do sport my assault pack all day long. Nothing is in it of course.

my photography bag is a Case Logic camera backpack and will be my go-to bag until i get a pelican rolling case (which may not be far off)

also (a separate bag), this is my trusty travel day-bag/carry-on, a Clive Bam v2. i've had it since my sophomore year of high school and is incredibly durable. it has been to france, italy, uk, canada, south africa, and about 2/3 of the united states with me. it fits a couple changes of clothes, some magazines, a laptop, and my toiletries. it's been perfect for me.

lol, like the first sentance states that its not in reference to students, etc.

the camera backpack i understand as well, but i'm refering to guys that just wear them to work (that does not require anything to get sent home). this is just wondering this because what would men need to carry with them at all times (not including guns)?

          ah, I gotcha.

mine isn't an everyday bag, but i do use it at least once a month. I got it while I was in school, but for the past several years the backpack has been my travel bag/carryon. its way better than a roller IMO and has more character.

I keep my wallet, my Alpine Deck Faceplate, my iPod, Business Cards, and maybe a couple pins. I could probably fit all of that into a tiny fanny pack, but that would look silly. The rest of the pack is 95% empty.

What about tactically prepared peps? I carry a single sling tactical bag with my spare full size weapon and several mags. As well as a big ass knife and some other shit.

none of that is necessary where i work, makes sense in a sense but IMO not practical

I used to carry my backpack everywhere I went. I've been considering cleaning it out and using it again. Especially since I got my bike back in shape, and I'm often riding all around. Pockets only carry so much stuff!

I think a backpack is a legit way of carrying a bunch of stuff without looking like you have a purse. As long as you're not walking around in a 3 piece suit wearing one!

I also grew up in the hardcore community (music, not porn...) where backpacks and messenger bags were everywhere. Guys would be doing spin kicks in the pit wearing their bags.

Where I work, a lot of the older guys carry a lunch box, which most of the time is a small cooler. The younger guys carry back packs. They serve the same purpose. And it give you some where to hide a drink ( we're not allowed to have them on the floor according to the handbook, but its not enforced as long as its out of site) so it kind of gives you a "home base"

You carry this with you everywhere? Do you live in Compton in an '80s time warp or something?

I have my wallet (which itself is very minimally packed with my ID, debit card, occasionally small cash, and an index card with notes on it), phone, and keys on me at all times, and that's it. Add an iPod if I'm on bike. I don't understand the need to have anything else on you unless you're out for a specific task that requires extra equipment.

I have carried a backpack since middle school until earlier this year. (im 33 years old) lol I carried various magazines (read and unread), napkins, deodorant, loose change, water, lunch... I tried a couple of times to stop using it... but I felt naked without it.

I just thought to myself... why I need all this stuff all the time? I'm a big boy and I could use my phone to see some magazines and if I bring lunch... just put it in a plastic bag.
