You'll have to drill the cups and use a slide hammer to yank them out. Then replace with new stealership cups.

Failed a 2nd time. Though my numbers improved my nox# were still high 658 and the max is 554.
I pulled the egr plugs and valve, sprayed the crap out of it, complete tune up and I still failed.
I purchased a vacum pum to check egr suction, but Im gonna need a procedure or write up, if anyone has one.
So here are my new numbers:
CO2 O2
Test RPM MEAS MEAS
15mph 1842 14.9 0.2
25mph 2562 15.0 0.1

HC (PPM)
Test RPM MAX AVG MEAS
15mph 81 27 37
25mph 91 21 21

CO
Test RPM MAX AVG MEAS
15mph 0.74 0.16 0.29
25mph 0.62 0.11 0.06

NO (PPM)
Test RPM MAX AVG MEAS
15mph 554 270 658 (before it was 688)
25mph 511 207 497

15mph FAIL
25mph PASS

I think they did change their emission standards in 09'. I'm in the same boat as you. fail the first time, cleaned out the egr, egr ports, failed again. Here is my smog thread http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=166216 CA smog. They said I need to replace my catalytic converter...again

Swap out my evap purge solenoid, newone is not ticking. Also, one of the small hoses was leaking so I swap it out. I double check the rest of the hoses for leaks. Im pretty much gonna role into another smog station, not the same dude that failed me twice. Wish me luck & I will post up my results tomorrow.
Peace in da middle east my brothers

all stations are the same if youre going to a test only.

put vacuum to the egr when the engine is running and the car should stall, thats when you know the egr is doing something. plus you really need to clean that carbon out, not just spray some carb clean.

Guess what? Nailed it, my car passed today doing 552 on the (NO), by a hair on my freaking chin chin. Thanks to all who gave a crap
I guess I had to go back and do my egr ports twice, get them completely clean, I mean really clean and use a high power vacuum to get everything out. Called my cuz out in Maui, he stated swap out my NGK Iridiums, they burn and run abit on the hot side. So I went out to WalMart & got the cheapest Autolite and roled up to the smog shop & Bingo. I hope what work for me, will work for others. Im back with my Iridiums.
Thanks agian

Hey folks. Just notice something today. Its getting cold here in the mornings in NoCal. I wanted to put the heater on and the air did not heat up through the vents. Both top and lower rad hoses felt pressure inflated, no leaks. My temp gauge held normal and fans came on when needed.
I know of CB7 having (3) temp sensors. Can one of the sensors be related with smoging and throwing my numbers off?

Well NOx is there from higher exhaust temperatures. So make sure youíre cooling system is functioning cause thatís bad in itself. Make sure the EGR system is functioning. if that doesnít fix it, the catalyst may need replacement.

Youíre test is twice the max amount, so Iíd bet the cat is in need of replacement.

If you want, you can try an oil change, retard the timing, and clean your EGR valve & passages.

Remember if youíre lowering NOx, the others will rise.

you still have 2% o2 in your system. are there exhaust leaks before the cat? if not then the cat might not be efficient

Im still dealing with this issue, paid my dmv fees back in November but have not taken it to get smog. I have been cited my my local parking enforcement with a fix tickets. The bastards.
Anyways, I have swap out my EGR Valve, tune up. Im researching my old post in here to try try to help my self deal with old issue that keeps popping every other year. Sucks!

is there still o2 in the exhaust? those are potential exhaust leaks or the cat is too inefficient
