I need to replace head gasket, info/help please?

I have my Haynes bible ahha. But it is no help. It has me jumping chapters.

It's so bad I don't even want to drive. I have freaking oil juice in my spark plugs/. It was so nasty I felt like crying. From what my VERY EXPERIENCED brother told me, he said it was a difficult job. I should just sell it. :,( I'm so Sad. What do I do?

WHOA if you just have oil in your spark plug tubes that's a easy job.

are you sure it's your head gasket? what tells you it is?
      WTB:
      88-01 prelude 2.0si (3g) si (4g,5g)
      OR
      90-93 Accord.

Has to be 5spd, has to be CHEAP. SUPER CHEAP. Will be in Indiana in February permanently and want a project car when I get settled in.

I know I have to change my gasket, because most likely that's what's cause to the leak into the chamber. Also the plugs had oil on them as well.

Could be the seals that sit underneath, inside the spark chambers on the valve cover. My old civic had the same problem. Went to advance, and ordered a set of new ones. Replaced them, never had anymore problems-tops of the plugs were dry from then on. Are you sure it's not just these?

          life is good.

YOu see I'm not tooooo sure. I just would have a better guess on the head gasket . I mean? It could be the head gasket too right? Or would it most likely not be that head gasket?

Just like DJ said, it would be one of your seals from underneath your rocker arms, there's some little 0 ring gaskets there, they usually come with your valve cover gasket kit....I think most likely its your valve cover gasket... just my $0.02

Yeah I understand. It's just difficult to debate, I really would like to get my hands dirty and get in there, But I am really scared I'd mess something up.

I ain't perfect but I know that I've broken some minor stuff in my motor when I used to mess with it in the past, that how I learned....just get in there and digg up the problem!

nah don't be scared. If you can still drive the car and their is not white smoke constantly coming out of your tail pipe than it's not likely your head gasket. Another way you can tell too is by taking off your radiator cap when the car is COLD! and starting it. If a bunch of anti freeze comes flying out of your radiator than you have a blown head gasket. Otherwise I highly doubt it by the things your saying.

Go to a parts store and get a complete valve cover gaskit set (runs like 20 dollars) it will have the 4 rubber seals under valve cover, the valve cover gasket, a few grommets, and 4 o rings that are oddly shaped. those go under your rocker arms like posted before. I can say for a certainty that this is your problem. easy fix too. if you have problems shoot me a email i'll give you my number that way and i can walk you through it.

I will definitialy trouble shoot this!!! I do get smoke sometimes, but mostly on cold days. Sweet sounds cheaper than a head gasket as well. Awesome thanks guys! and my brother said, "leave it alone, it's going to run it's course and self-distruct". My whole family hates my car.:/

a cheap test is to rent a compression tester from your local hardware store, if your numbers are in good limits of each other, then you should be able to rule out head gasket. when I had my sohc I had to replace the seals in the valve cover because they shot themselves and I had to use loads of paper towels to get the oil out, and sure enough that fixed it.

Alrighty, So I guess I will rule out head gasket. BUT just a question, would oil get to the bottom of the plugs by just a bad valve cover leak?

only if your spark plugs are not tightened in correctly. if it is smoking blue out the exhaust than it could be a few things, but if it's not heavy i wouldn't worry about it.

and if it's just a little bit of white smoke that's more of a mist that is normal. It's just condensate burning off. the white smoke i'm talking about is thick and smells bad.

they only hate cause they are jeolous!

Check to see if they're properly seated.

Leakdown/comp test will give you an answer on the HG. Keep us posted
