Hmm, ive been pondering getting HID's for awhile, the price, the law, output, etc. I really want them but i just dunno this is adding argument to the no side of getting them. How long does a retrofit take (approx hrs)? I mean sure the pictures that guy posted were not showing cutoff on a wall dead on either

Yea man that cutoff is the shizzle man. You can only hope to get something like that from a reflector.

No glare what so ever, the left projector is off/tilted by a couple of mm.

What I meant by that was you'll never, ever, ever get that kind of cutoff from a reflector; you can only hope for the best. My dad's '02 M45 has HIDs in reflectors and while I guess it's DOT legal, the beam pattern is short and narrow, and there's a fair amount of glare...and this is from a stock DOT legal system. However, most of the headlight housing is black and the bottom half of the reflector isn't lit up so I think they designed it as well as they could. That razor sharp cutoff is only possible from a projector though.

yup, that cut-off is produced by the sheild with the help of the glass lenses optics. Hella has a pretty good system with their reflectors on the Mercedes, and that was a halogen headlight. I think it was the newer C class.Originally posted by gloryaccordy
