ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Best Brand of CV Axles

Well, the title of this thread says it all..in your opinion, what brand do you think carries the best NEW CV Axles for our CBs. Obviously, Honda would be great to get but what other great brands are there? I have heard of Raxles as well.

I bought a crappy Autozone re manufactured CV about 3 months ago for the passenger side and it has been making some loud vibration noises under certain loads. I double checked to make sure I didn't install it incorrectly but, it is properly installed to how it is supposed to be. Also, sometimes it makes the very annoying "clicking" sound when I turn to the left at slow speeds.

So, I wanted to find the best New CV Axle. (Besides the OEM)
    Thanks.

I've had a very, VERY bad experience with aftermarket axles on my Accord. After 12 axles (literally six sets) from 3 different companies (Cardone, Surtrack, Duralast, and a local rebuilder) I couldn't get the vibration to stop under acceleration. I assume this is the vibration you're talking about, worst from 2000-3000 RPM?

The local rebuilder was especially frustrating since they had good reviews and blamed everything they could. "Your motor mounts are bad, you need OE Honda mounts", "bad ball joints", etc etc...When really, they just did a bad job when rebuilding the axles. I don't know why good axles are so hard to find since the cheap axles seem to work OK on most other cars.

I finally paid good money for a set of Raxles and I have no regrets, they are smooth as can be. Obviously high levels of craftsmanship. They supposedly use new CV joints from a European supplier instead of a Chinese one that supplies most of the aftermarket. They even have the rubber vibration damper like the OE shafts did.

If you don't have your original Honda axle cores (or can't find some) they do have fairly hefty core charge since they don't use aftermarket axles for cores. You could try your luck at a salvage yard, the OE axle cores have a painted stripe in the center, aftermarket ones do not. All in all they are still cheaper than OE axles and as far as I can tell, they are the only decent aftermarket option.

Damn man 12 axles?? That is insane! You are totally correct, the same vibration sound and feeling can be felt around 30MPH, mostly if I am in a higher gear at a lower RPM. But, not the feeling like you're in too high of gear going too slow because the axle likes to make the noise randomly as well.

Yeah I really want an Axle from Raxles because I have heard nothing but awesome reviews about their company and products. But, wow they won't take aftermarket cores? That's probably for the better lol, and I totally understand.

Another note, that's wild that you say the OE axles have a stripe painted in the center because I actually received one from Autozone when I replaced the Driver's Side CV Axle. I guess I got lucky because it has been holding up great with no issues at all.

Thanks masospaghetti, I appreciate your help!!

Sometimes you get lucky and one of the remanufactured axles from Autozone is a rebult oem axle.
