    SUSP: Caliper painting (pics)

Support car on jack stands, and have a look.

I removed the caliper bolts, and removed the bracket completely to better clean it, before bolting it back up without pads, and putting the chatter springs back in.

Brass cup wheel cleans things up nicely

    This is the product used...

It's a brush on paint, so lots less masking required. I used three coats.

I left the lower caliper bolt out, so I could move the caliper up to paint any missed spots. Let it dry for as long as you can before reassembling everything.

No paint on mounting surfaces, or anywhere the pad touches!

i've got a friend who used the same stuff on his ride over a year ago and its still in the same great condition as the one shown in the pics above. This is good stuff, I just haven't gotten around to doing it to mine yet

Good to know, and yup. Had to chop them to do the rotors.

                It's on the list.

do you have to completely remove the calliper or can you just take off the rim and then sand/brush off the rust/exterior and paint it there?

You can do it anyway you want, but good luck trying to paint around the pads and springs, and getting in the recesses to get it really clean without removal.

Two bolts for the calipers, and two bolts for the bracket.

how long did you let it dry, prior to reassembling and bolting the wheels back on?
