I'm still trying to buy a good welder and some of the deals out there have MIGs without bottles but say just use flux core wire. How much more expensive is a spool of flux core compared to getting regular wire and some bottles of gas? Is there a quality difference when comparing flux core vs. gas welds? The advatage of gas that I see is being able to use torches....

Normaly flux core is for thick metal... It will be hard to do body with flux core cause you need more Volts than normal mig wire with gas...
I'm a welder and where I work we weld big structure and we need flux core cause the normal mig wire is not strong enough....
Depend on what the welder is for (For doing body job or other thing) a good mig with a small bottle of gas is better IMO....

flux core is not too bad for exhaust
i bought a welder for 40 bucks that uses fluxcore, it cost me 18 bucks for like a 2 lb roll of welding wire, the regular wires cost like 10, so there is a price difference, i use it for things around the house and work great, but if you could get one with gas, it works way better
just my opinion
