    Flywheel interchangeability

I have a quick question. I know this has been answered already, but I am looking for a little of assurance.

Are Prelude and Accord flywheels EXACTLY interchangeable?

Every dimension I see for them from places like ACT are showing slightly different diameter. I just want to make sure that they are or aren't the same before I fork over the respective cash for one.

Also, are the starters for the manny trannies interchangeable?

Sorry for the dumb question, I only have one opportunity to get this all done and working correctly.

ACT shows that part # 600190 is for 1990-2002 Accords and 1992-2001 Preludes, but when you are selecting the car, it shows a slight difference in diameter.

I guess that is what is making me nervous.

I measured stock flywheel to stock flywheel and the 92-95 prelude one was the same measurement in diameter and yea it did bolt on. DUnno if they make it different for aftermarket.

Thanks. That is what I thought. ACT shows the same part #'s for both, but they also have different listed diameters, and sometimes with aftermarket stuff they say it fits and it doesn't (Skunk2 does this from time to time).

Do you know if the starters are interchangeable?

starters are interchangeable, as well as flywheels.... ive heard of them being slightly different diameters (what, 2mm?) but the friction disc is usually smaller than the FW surface anyway, so either one works fine. ive put f22 clutches on h22 flywheels and h22 clutches on f22 flywheels with no problems.

Awesome. I thought so, but I wanted to double check.

            Thanks guys!

Dunno the flywheels were pretty close when I measured it. We just measured it because looked like the trans case wouldnt go over it but it did just a tight fit. But I did hear f22/h22 clutches were different diameters or something like that as you mention.

                  nor does XTD. ACT does.

I'm looking at an ACT streetlite. They have timing marks on them. At least every one I have ever dealt with did.

Thanks for the heads up though.

Also, the clutch is already an H22 clutch, so I should be fine.

No timing marks = no fun. I need to pull my transmission and mark that damn wheel! Even then, it probably won't be exact.

                        Yeah that would suck.

It seems to me, if I remember correctly, that my friends Civic that we put on in had timing marks on it, and you don't even time those from the flywheel!

Better safe than sorry I guess. And honestly, I have heard great things about Fidanza, but 8lbs was just too light, and so far, I have been extremely pleased with the quality of all the ACT stuff I have encountered.
