Please DO NOT Post In The General Section

From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.

The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.

For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

Again if you have any questions, PM me or one of the other mods.

        Congrats!

I was somewhat aware of your journey, but really started to follow it with the Insight project.

I wish I knew a fraction of what you do.

I've never seen pictures of the Insight before... very nice!

I wonder what that motor would do in a heavier CB7 chassis.

I have access to this weird program that can provide that info. What weight would you like to use?

Thanks for the kind words and support, everyone. The F22A is so underestimated...we have not even scratched the surface of performance with these engines.

I suppose 2600lbs is about average for a moderately lightened CB7. I know people have gotten them MUCH lighter, but 2600lbs is about what you would get if you dropped the un-necessary accessories and interior pieces.

At 2600 lbs, the CB7 would run 11.22 at 119.12mph.

Wow! That's still impressive! I'm hoping for high 12s at best with my all-motor H22 (fully streetable, though... with adequate gas mileage)

I'm guessing the header you have in the Insight wouldn't fit the CB7 without some major modification... then again, it would be fairly minor modification compared to what is done to the motor!

How often can you run that motor between rebuilds? Can it last an entire season without being opened?

The header on the insight is a test unit; my final production pieces do not look like that, but more involved and compact.

My engines last for more than a season. I only take them apart when I experiment. In 2003, I won the IDRC championship with one powerplant, and ran 13 events, 5 track testing sessions and tons of dyno tuning.

F engines take well to abuse...then again, I use excellent parts, and tuning is key.

                          LOL!

I could probably live with that!

                          "A modified stock motor..."

I have another question too. Are you religiously opposed to VTEC, or do you just like the challenge of SOHC?

The block is sleeved with my spec pistons, cams and aluminum rods. Simple stuff, really. The power is mainly in the head: portings, camshaft, induction and exhaust.

VTEC is amazing. However, for my intended purposes: reliable power with light valvetrain mass, it is a big "no-no". In addition, the F vtec heads do not lend themselves well to port flow.
