From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.

The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.

For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

    windage tray - F22a6 vs F22a1/a4

Wow. I just found out from 90cb7sleeper that his F22a6 has a windage tray, so he said. I know personally that my F22a1 and F22a4 motor do not have it. I just looked up the windage tray for a F22a6 and it does list it!

Why does the F22a6 only come with it and is there really an advantage to it from an oil level standpoint in dynamic vehicle conditions for this particular motor?

Very interesting, another F22a6 difference that I have not heard of.

The A6 also had the oil cooler on the back of the block. Some never notice it.

Inside the engine. When you take out the oil pan its a cover that covers the crank and main girdle.

I believe, or atleast this is what i have been told, that at a certain rpm, the oil will turn to foam in the sump, and not lubricate as well. so the windage tray keeps the foaming oil from hitting the crank and the possibility of a seized (sp?) bearing... again this is coming from a muscle car guy, so i do not know the truth behind it. Some one feel free to correct it.

Now, don't get me wrong on this. I brought this issue up while building up my motor because I kept noticing a windage tray in the Helms 1991 Accord manual and in Majestic Honda's sight, but I never had one listed/recognized to order. I was looking for one and no one had one, then I found from 90cb7sleeper that only F22a6 had them and coincidently I never looked at those.

Wouldn't that cause the crank to hit the tray? I dont know.
I wonder if my h22 has one. i havent taken the pan of off it.

IDK. My co-worker and FordMan' pointed out that the F22B was stout, I didnt know what he ment. I think If Honda placed it inside the f22a6 it was for a reason.

Nice article. I get it. Even though crank is over sump significantly, the rotating motion can aeriate the sump oil and so the tray collects the oil droplets between crank and tray, letting it drip into the sump as liquid rather than droplets floating around. Also, it acts like an umbrella, sheltering the turning motion of crank from oil sump. Nice, nice.

F22a6, H23 and H22 windage trays are all the same, even the screws (QTY:4), plus you have 2 screws for the oil pickup.

So since the only difference between the F22A6 block and the A1/A4 block is the the camshaft why did the A1/A4 not get a windage tray? Also will the windage tray from the A6 bolt to a A1 block.
                              I need a 14b or 16g turbo!
