DURIAN SEASON!!!

Yummy.. went out for some durians with my dad.. ~burp~ (durian breath)

At the roadside durian stall:


Some were in baskets (the dirt cheap, unripe, tasteless variety)



And some longans (expensive, since it's out of season)

They taste fantastic man! Wonderful!

Explosion in your mouth kind of taste.

The flesh is soft and mushy. And the smell. Wow, the smell. Fantastic.

Fear factor featured durians. Only whimps throw up eating these.

the flesh depends on the species. its usually yellowish.

lots of my chinese buddies love durians. infact, we'll stop by the roadside and it right there, beside the stall, squatting. dont want the car to smell

There used to be imported Thai durians at Superstore in Vancouver back in the early 90's. Not sure about now though. They aint cheap either.

I bought 10 kilos of them tonite for around 10 bucks.

A few years back, due to a bountiful harvest, a fruit costs less than 20 cents of the USD!

they dont sell them in grocery stores but if you got a chinese market or oriental market around you they might have it..

I doubt they have em in the US. As I recall they are illegal to import? I dunno I haven't seen durian in any asian markets in dallas.

i dont think their illegal.. bcuz every china town i go to has em on the streets and some markets in washington d.c

yea they cant be illegal. i seen them in many oriental stores in philly and i love the durian drink. i have always heard that they smell horrible but never actually smelled one open. taste is awesome however!
