    can i drive without my Hood

    i am planning to paint the underside and i want to take the hood off while still driving the car ... can i or is it againt the law in florida ...federal ?

    it wont hurt the car, but its not legal in many areas. then again many areas are pretty lenient and wont care too much, especially if you explain the truth / reason to the officer.

    id hit up some of the locals to your area and see what they say...

      I know it's illegal in TN.

        i've done it a few times with no problems. i also pulled up to a gas station that had a group of cops hanging out in front. none of them said anything, but they were staring. later.

            go for it, if you get caught...just say you had a cf hood that cracked...and the new one is in the mail and will be here within a few days

              or just tell him that "see my fresh new paint job??? the hood is getting fixed at the shop! ill have it tomorrow" and if the cop isnt a dick, he might understand...

                tell him it's a clear plexi hood, and not to touch it cause you don't want any smudges on it.

                  our excuse in the past usually was "this is the maiden voyage after an engine swap, we didnt get around to putting the hood back on yet" ... though that was usually the truth lol

                          I've done it once to pick up a c/f hood that was 2 hours away, worked out fine but I was mentally prepared for being pulled over.

                            People do it here all the time, theres a town truck i see daily movin cars around town without i have never seen him get pulled...
                            But dont come yellin at me if u get cought!
