    8th gen Civic sedan love....

Coupes get no love, cause they're dirt ugly.

I like the coupes better. That blue one with the bronze rims is sick though.

            Too. Low.

But I do like the sedans. Looking to buy one in a few years if I don't get a used TL first.

Civics suck ass. Especially the Si.

Also, don't count on the RDX powertrain anytime soon, it isn't going to happen. Honda deems that too much power for a relatively lightweight FWD car, and frankly I agree. It is pretty stupid to completely chop the dynamics of the car just to win a pissing match about whose car is faster on the strip.

It is rumored that the next Civic will probably be in the 220-230HP range or so. I am hoping it will be a 2.2L with a properly set VTEC crossover point. That would allow a huge gain in midrange torque with a sizeable bump everywhere else, while still being able to easily rev to 8K+. The K24 can't handle those revs with a warranty.

I agree that the RDX would be too much for a FWD Civic. However, the complete SH-AWD drivetrain would totally work. Yes it would be a little heavy, but the Civic has already gained about 500# in 10 years, and it's within spitting range of being a midsizer anyway. This couple extra pounds would definitely be worth it... makes more sense than a SH-AWD RL IMO.

Plus with a turbo they could just lower the displacement and keep the compression ratio at 10:1 or so. Rev problem solved

The Civis is not going to get heavier, and it is not going to get SH-AWD. Honda has pretty much confirmed that the next Civic will actually be small/lighter than the current.Besides, adding SH-AWD would likely move Civic pricing further into Accord territory.

SH-AWD would be Acura only technology. People already complain that Acura is just a gussied up Honda despite the fact that they don't even share major body stampings.

AWD Civic is an unrealistic pretense about the what the Civic is, especially with SH-AWD. It just isn't going to happen, so you are essentially creating a false reality and then will be disappointed when it happens. Could they do it? Certainly. Will they? No.

Also, that weight gain has come with a lot of feature content, it wasn't just random.

As for the weight thing, the next Civic is going to be "smaller than orginally planned." Given the size increase on the Accord, it is likely the Civic was going to be larger than the current one. So, in reality, the next one will probably be similar in size. If they up the HSS content, which they have lots of room to do, it is very likely we will see a car that is around 10% lighter. If that comes with a meaningful 10% bump in power, it will result in a much more spry power to weight ratio without upsetting the balance of the car.

I love driving my boys SI sedan. With I/H/E/S2 stg1 cams with a tune makes GREAT power all over the rev range. We switch cars sometimes when we go out for cruises.

How did those mods affect his MPG on average?

I know the Civic's weight gain was warranted... I am pretty sure I have expressed how impressed I am with what the new Civic has to offer when compared with the CB. Same weight, smaller engine, smaller footprint, much higher chassis rigidity, safety, feature content, and when you factor in inflation the Civic costs about 30-40% less than the CB. So I totally understand what the Civic is.

But as far as the AWD Civic, it wouldn't even have to be SH-AWD. Hell the (Real Time?) AWD system from the CRV with a rearward bias would suffice. Keep in mind I'm only talking about a limited edition performance model (though an AWD option would set it apart from most competitors). Like the S2000 it would IMO be a worthwhile exercise in previously unchartered territory for Honda. I know a turbo AWD Civic would be be better than a WRX or Lancer Ralliart, and such a model would help further establish Honda's superiority in all segments.
