CB7 Game model - Help Design!

So im finally going to give in and model a CB7 Coupe (First) for the game rFactor. This car will be done in my spare time from modeling commercial cars so its no going to be a quick thing.

This will also be a practice car for me to map and texture (Basically paint the car). It will have full interior, along with an HD interior for incar racing view. It will have some of an F22 modeled under the hood as well. Im aiming at around 60-70,000 tris for any of you that knows what I means, lol.

So to start the thread off, i'll let you know there will be 2 versions. Stock, and modified.

The modified parts will be picked by you, the forum community (So spread the work) just like I did with the "Ultimate CB7" thread. We need an organized way we can list a part, ex: Rims, then list your options, then vote. Im not sure how im going to set this up yet so i'll test some ways and take suggestions.

I would like to model 1 or more parts a day, starting today with the rims. I will model the stock then modified version.

So what we need to do today is to post your one top rim and have a vote for which will go on the car. Im gonna make this a timed part as I want it finished tonight!

Here's what you need to do: Post just 1 one! of your fav rims you would like to see on the game model, must not be a stock rim. Please provide a picture or link to a picture of the rim you have chosen. If you see the rim you would like to vote for in a previous post to yours then "quote" that post and put a x2, x3, x4 (What ever number you are) below the quote so we can keep track of the vote count. I will give you guys until 10:00 PM to get your votes in before I pick a winner and model it tonight.

I will be posting updates every night I make a new part. If you have better ways to vote or go about this then post your suggestions! I would like to spend more time modeling then voting for parts so the votes need to go quick!

    What do ya think?

PS: Since this can affect the whole site where should this post be? lol

This is the best place for it.

I'm excited. After seeing the other car, I really hoped you'd make one for a game! I'm not familiar with the game, but I'll most certainly play it if I can get an CB7 in it!

That's my favorite wheel, the Falken Hanabi.

Good luck man. You can make a pretty detailed game model for less than 20,000 tris. I took some screen shots with the HUD turned on so you can see the poly count.

This model has detail in the head and tail lamps as well as an interior.

        Shot of the interior:

High lighted the shell of the cockpit so you could see how many tris are in that piece of geometry.

Sure you can make one for less then 20,000 but why when the game and a basic computer can run 10 or more cars on the track with 70,000 plus polys. Not to mention the detail in games today has gone up...

Plus ive been modeling cars for games since 2001 :P

          And I like detail....

having done quite a bit of 3D work myself, I find this exciting and I keep checking back on it. I like where this is going.

my only suggestion would be to generate it with extra detail, but to do a poly reduction for actual game usage. its like creating a graphic image, why create a low-res compressed version? you can always save down, but not up. what application are you designing in?

what game is this for? or is it just random. because there was another 3D cb rendering that was made, what ever happened to that? it had quite a bit of detail and was being customized with aftermarket parts.

the other day I was watching NCIS (episode 126 from 12-2-10, titled "road kill") and there was a 5th gen accord that was in an accident. Abbey the tech girl "created" a 3d rendering of the events leading to the accident, and the accord model used in the video was actually a CB7!!! I wonder where the production company got the 3d model from!?? and if they made it, why didnt they just make a CD5 like the real car?

Ive always modeled this way, for 10 years now, lol. Using 3d studio max 10. The other CB7 I made was too high poly to be cut down, and it was some what inaccurate, plus I always like the process of modeling from scratch. The game its going in as stated in the first post is rFactor.

He made that other image as well. It's a sticky at the top of this section (which is why nobody sees it... )
