wow nice description.. catching at the right rpm.. well when is the right rpm?? lol..
its called rev matching.. or along the sorts.. allows u to go through the gears without having to engage/disengage the clutch.. revolutions must be at a specific point where the upcoming gear 1-2... 2-3... etc.. hmm how do u describe this part??...
where the upcoming gear is allows the shifter to slide into it without grinding.. some can master this and shift through all the gears with no problems.. others will grind the shit out of their trannys

i usually just pull the gear out to neutral without using the clutch when coming to a stop. this is because i am lazy. i dont see a benefit from shifting w/o depressing the pedal; though i found out that the easiest gears for me to row w/o clutch is 3rd going to 4th.
revmatching is key. i would only do this if the clutch cable broke but our cars are hydrolic so this is futile.
