    Nintendo Revolution...

    Finally has a name
    Introducing ... Wii.
    As in "we."
While the code-name 'Revolution' expressed our direction, Wii represents the answer. Wii will break down that wall that separates video game players from everybody else. Wii will put people more in touch with their games ... and each other. But you're probably asking: What does the name mean?
Wii sounds like 'we', which emphasises this console is for everyone.
Wii can easily be remembered by people around the world, no matter what language they speak. No confusion. No need to abbreviate. Just Wii.
Wii has a distinctive 'ii' spelling that symbolises both the unique controllers and the image of people gathering to play.
And Wii, as a name and a console, brings something revolutionary to the world of video games that sets it apart from the crowd.
So that's Wii. But now Nintendo needs you.
Because, it's not really about you or me.
    It's about Wii.
And together, Wii will change everything.

Controller looks like a remote. Nintendo may be following the same path as Sega. Even in the handheld scene, there is the sony PSP owning them.

I bet it does extremely well. You guys watch, in 2 months everyone will be saying Wii this and Wii that. Innovative controller design, let's wait and see how it plays into the games and what titles will be available at launch.

Actually, you're wrong here bud. The Nintendo DS continues to own PSP in sales. Nintendo doesn't just lead the handheld market; it owns it.

As of now, the handheld market is where Nintendo is making the big bucks.

When Nintendo Wii comes out, it will change the way people play video games.

And as for Nintendo going down. They aren't going anywhere. Be surprised or whatever, but Nintendo has the most profits out of Sony and Microsoft when it comes to the gaming industy.

There are so many third party companies jumping on with Nintendo to make new, and unique innovative games. Plus Nintendo already has a few second party developers in the works making games exclusivly for Nintendo's new system.

Sure Nintendo brings back the same games, Mario, Zelda, and all them, but it's what keeps Nintendo orignal. And each of these same/new games, are always good because they have a diffrent story to them, and always have diffrent ways of beating them.

Nintendo's new controller design will define gaming in a whole new way. Just think how well FPS's will be on Nintendo Wii. Perfect. You'll be able to aim without a joy stick. You won't need it. Cause you'll actually be in the game, like you're actually holding the gun. Check out Red Steel. This game finally released it's info, and the screen shots look amazing. Red Steel will be shown at E3 tomorrow.

Nintendo Wii will probably be the most sucessful system along side with PS3. I wouldn't doubt it. With so much support behind it, and it's new ways to show gamers how to play games; Nintendo isn't going anywhere, they're just showing a whole new way to play games, and it's only the beginning.

I wonder that myself. Revolution was a good name, but change is sometimes good. I mean, sure it's an odd name now, but five months from now, it will all sink in, and people will just be calling it whatever. Think about iPod when it came out. People were like "I wha?". Trust me, it comes to a shock now, but we get use to it. Plus, it's just a name change, the system still stands and holds what it has to offer.

Nintendo isn't just for eight year olds. Your close minded. Just cause their game lineup is mostly adventure games, and they don't shed blood, doesn't mean the system isn't good. Have you ever played Star Fox Adventures for GameCube? I bet you haven't. Of course the game didn't sell well, but it sure as hell had a great story, and in depth gaming.

Apparently you haven't even reserched Zelda : Twilight Princess. I don't think that game looks anything like a kids game. And it just might even earn the "T" rating.

Mario kart was fun. I couldn't tell you how many hours I spent chillin' with my friends and playing that game.

It's not about the look of the games, it's about their story, and their plot. Their gameplay. You just never gave them a shot, cause your probably stuck on Halo type games.

actually the Wii is supposed to be focusing on a more "adult" aspect. its an attempt by Nintendo to shed their kiddie only image. Anyone see the previews for the fps that uses the Wii controller like a light gun of sorts? the movements onscreen are dictated by how and where you move the controller. But according to EGM it doesnt feel like a typical light gun game, but more like a refined fps, and having this control scheme allows for games to become more in-depth, since your reaction time is quicker. i dunno, i still think the ps3 is going to own all anyways, with the Blu-Ray support, the ps3 will bring an affordable Blu-Ray player into every home for about half the asking price of release Blu-Ray players (ps3 estimated launch cost: $500. current Blu-Ray player : $1000) I think Microsoft screwed up the 360 by releasing early and not having the HD-DVD support integrated into their machine. Granted they are offering an ADD-ON to the 360 that will play HD-DVD, but so far its only been released that it will only play HD-DVD MOVIES and NOT GAMES. how can Microsoft consider this a good move? The HD-DVD will only store 30 gb dual layer AND is not yet able to support 1080p, only 720p and 1080i. Blu-Ray already can support 1080p and dual layer encoding puts the Blu Ray storage at 50 gb. Sony also has much better killer apps under its belt. Sony will dominate this market soon enough, No one wants to buy an add on for the 360, and Nintendo's last two consoles have turned alot of gamers into nostalgic-only old-school nintendo gamers, and everyone is passing their systems by. The only thing Microsoft barely has an advantage in right now is XBOX Live which i dont think is going to be enough to survuve the PS3 onslaught. AND, Halo 3 HAS NOT BEEN CONFIRMED for 360, only the new "HALO BASED" game has (can't remember working title).

you know, i retract my statement about nintendo i made first post in this thread.

allthough nintendo might look like its down, they know what in the hell they're doing... the've been doing it for nearly 100 years. Yes, i said it. Nintendo has been making playing cards, slot machines, all kinds of entertainment for around 100 years. im pretty sure they can survive this is the Wii dosent do well. but i think it might.

and yes it does make sense with the name. when i first heard of Ipod, i thought that name was fucking stupid.. i now own one and love it

playing FPS will be total kick ass with the wii
